A350 road repairs

A350 Sturminster Marshall

As part of our £15m highways maintenance programme, two sections of the A350, between Poole and Shaftesbury, will be repaired in May.

Due to the large equipment being used, the narrow width of the road and the type of work being carried out - the only safe way to do the work is with a road closure.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys between Poole - Blandford - Shaftesbury.

A350, Sturminster Marshall (weekdays only)

  • daytime closures 9am to 3.30pm, Wednesday 10 May to Friday 19 May
  • daytime closures 9am to 3.30pm, Tuesday 30 May to Wednesday 7 June
  • official diversion A31 & A354

This 1.1mile section of road is scheduled for resurfacing (full width) - where we will be removing the top part of the road and completely replacing it.

From Monday 22 May to Sunday 28 May, work will stop at this site and the road will be open so that surface dressing treatment can be carried out north of Blandford. Monday 29 May is a Bank Holiday and the road will remain open.

There may be some raised manhole covers - which will be ramped and signed - but please drive carefully during this week-long pause in our work.

A350, Fontmell Magna

  • daytime closures 9am to 4pm, Monday 22 May to Sunday 28 May
  • official diversion A357 & A30

The section of road between North Street, Fontmell Magna, and Shaftesbury is part of our premium surface dressing programme, which is carried out by Eurovia.

This is a cost effective road surface treatment - where the lower layers of the road are still in good condition - to extend the life of the road surface, increase skid resistance and seal the surface to stop water damage caused by severe winter weather.

Eurovia is a national company that carries out surface dressing across the country. As the company has a national programme of work, we are unable to negotiate dates.
