Historic Environment team 'On the Road'

Meet members of the historic environment team at Poole Museum and the Priest's House Museum, Wimborne Minster.

Every other month members of Dorset County Council's Historic Environment team spend a morning at Poole Museum (opens in a new window), the Priest's House Museum (opens in a new window) in Wimborne Minster, Blandford Town Museum (opens in a new window) and Sturminster Newton Museum. We visit them alternately, so each museum is visited three times a year.

We usually bring a table-top display of archaeological finds for people to see and handle.

Come along to discuss your research and submit Historic Environment Record enquiries in person, or show your finds to the Finds Liaison Officer (Portable Antiquities Scheme), or just have a chat and look at the display. These visits will give local volunteers, researchers and metal detectorists an opportunity to meet face-to-face, and to drop off and collect finds for identification. If you want to deliver batches of finds for identification by the Finds Liaison Officer, or collect finds from her, please get in touch before the day.

We have plans to visit Bridport Museum and Beaminster Museum in 2018, so keep an eye on this page.
