Wareham Town Walls walk
Wareham Town Walls were originally built in Saxon times to defend the town from Viking attacks. This circular walk follows the walls around the town.
Wareham Walls surround the heart of the town on three sides and date from the 9th century. The Walls (now grassy, earth mounds) are managed to improve the local wildlife. For example, the grass is cut at certain times of the year to allow plants to flower, which benefits a variety of butterflies.
