Fun Palaces

Fun Palaces is an ongoing campaign for culture at the heart of every community, and an annual weekend of action - arts, science, craft, tech, digital and sports events and activities - run by and for local communities.

Fun Palaces weekend is the first weekend of October every year but Fun Palaces can take place anytime, anywhere and as community hubs, our libraries are going to make great Fun Palaces in 2017.

A Fun Palace is free, local, for all ages, inclusive and yours

Gillingham Library Fun Palace

Gillingham Library took the plunge with a liquid themed "Fun Palace: Everyone an Artist, Everyone a Scientist" on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 June 2017. Over 1500 people came along over two days for fun have-a-go experiments and demonstrations.  It was so successful that Gillingham Library are holding another Fun Palace during Carnival week later this year.
