Verwood - Springfield Road

This scheme will provide the primary access link from the roundabout at Manor Road to a substantial area of existing residential development, two schools and expanding community facilities in the Howe Lane area.

This area is currently served by only a single adopted highway, Margards Lane, which has a substandard junction at the B3072.

The proposed scheme would provide relief for Margards Lane and the surrounding network of unmade, unadopted highways - thereby reducing the maintenance liability on their frontagers.

The northern end of the scheme was improved when the former garage site was developed into flats and the southern end was constructed as part of the Spring Close development.

The only sections remaining to complete the scheme are the improvement of Springfield Road itself to an adoptable standard, and a new section of road for the final link to Spring Close, through land the county council has acquired for the purpose.
