Finds identification

Found something interesting? Bring it along to a finds identification 'surgery' for identification and recording.

We would like to know about any objects that you have found in fields, in your garden, or while you've been out and about in Dorset. This includes metal objects such as coins, buckles, brooches and tools, as well as pottery, tile and worked stone.

Get your finds identified, handle genuine artefacts, enjoy activities, or just enjoy a chat with the Finds Liaison Officer Portable Antiquities Scheme and other members of Dorset County Council's Historic Environment team. We will identify your finds and then, depending on their date and type, decide if they need to be recorded in more detail.

We publish information about events as arrangements are completed, so keep an eye on this page.
