Approved food premises

Food businesses involved in the processing or manufacturing of meat, dairy, eggs or fish products may require approval.

If you think your business may require approval contact your local authority to discuss this at an early stage. There are some exemptions to the need for approval which the officers can assess. You will be provided with with clear guidance about how the process works. 

In general this does not cover catering or retail activities.

  • deli counter Food sampling

    Food sampling is done as part of local or national investigations to establish the standard of food hygiene practices. Dorset food safety teams also take samples in response to food complaints and from premises that give cause for concern.
