The Purbeck Planning Register

The Town & Country Planning Act came into force in 1947 and Dorset County Council was appointed the Local Planning Authority to determine all the planning applications for the county. In 1974, local government boundary reorganisation created district councils and Purbeck District Council took over the Local Planning Authority function within its administrative area for the majority of planning applications.

The Purbeck Planning Register is the official record of all the planning applications submitted to the Council since 1974.

The majority of these applications have been digitally scanned and those from 1974 are available to view using the planning application search.  However, some of the larger developments and Listed Building Consents have not been uploaded to the register.

All the planning applications received between 1947 and 1974 were transferred to the ownership of Purbeck District Council from the County Council in 1974.  These have also been digitally scanned, but are not available as an online resource, but can be emailed to you.
