Empty property loans in West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland

Loans are available in West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland to help bring long term empty properties back into use.

Our aim is to work with owners of empty homes to help consider the options to bring them back into use. That may include:

  • moving into it yourself
  • letting your property through our lettings team
  • letting the property yourself
  • leasing the property via our lettings team
  • selling the property either through an estate agent, on the open market or at auction

If your property needs renovation, in certain circumstances you could be eligible for a low cost loan. When supported by the council, loans for up to £15,000 may be offered through Wessex Resolutions Community Interest Company, approved provider for both West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.

If you want to let your property, we can advise about becoming a landlord or using our lettings team. From finding tenants, to signing up and completing all the necessary checks the lettings team can provide expert assistance. Whatever you need to know, we can provide you with up-to-date advice, information and support Contact the Empty Homes Officer direct on 01305 252469.

I am interested in an empty property, how can I find out more?

You may be able to find out who the current owner is through the Land Registry (opens in a new window). If you can't, contact the Empty Homes Officer on 01305 252469, who can attempt to contact the owner on your behalf. Data protection restrictions mean we cannot give out owner's details.
