Bryanston School Residential 2018

Join the 'Dorset Youth Creative Ensemble' for a summer residential at the stunning Bryanston School.

Dorset Youth Creative Ensemble

Dorset Music Service invite you to apply to join the Dorset Youth Creative Ensemble at the stunning Bryanston School featuring a full-course residency with Jon James, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Associate, for a week of downright musical madness, which will culminate in a final night concert in the magnificent Tom Weare concert hall.

Running over 5 days during the summer holidays the Dorset Youth Creative Ensemble will be led by Jon James and a first class team of musicians and educators supporting young musicians who will further their skills, understanding, and appreciation of music (from all styles!).

Sessions focus on a range of key jazz, classical, folk, pop and rock techniques and styles. Throughout the 5 days there will also be many opportunities to practice improvisation, composition and performance. All of this leads to a fantastic final Friday evening performance which is open to an invited audience of family and friends.

Working in a concentrated yet relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the combination of the course, tutors, and facilities make for a highly enjoyable and worthwhile musical experience.

Who can attend

This opportunity is open to all young musicians between the ages of 12 and 21, playing at grade 4 or above.

You don't need to have experience of playing in a jazz orchestra and we consider almost any instrument.
