B3074 Blandford Road, Corfe Mullen - Pedestrian Crossing Improvements
The junction of Wareham Road and Blandford Road is wide and pedestrians can find it difficult to cross.
It is used by children to access local schools and many local people to access the shop and facilities at the petrol station. The proposal is to narrow down the junction and introduce a widened central refuge island to make it safer and easier to cross the road. The proposals should also discourage inappropriate use of the road by drivers avoiding the roundabout and help reduce traffic speeds.
The works will start on Monday 23 January 2017 and are scheduled to be completed by 17 February 2017.
Access to and from businesses and the petrol filling station will be maintained at all times but there may be times when traffic control may be required.
The budget for the construction is £37,000 funded from the Local Transport Plan.
