Filming permit for Dorset Councils Partnership

Apply for a filming permit

If you are carrying out commercial filming or photography activity (for broadcast/public viewing) in locations managed by Dorset Councils Partnership, you will require a filming permit. You can apply for this via our online form.

You will need to hold the following:

  • £10 million public liability insurance

  • £10 million employer’s liability insurance

  • risk assessment

Conditions

We ask that you:

  • apply for permissions in good time – please allow 1 working day for an initial response

  • abide by our filming code of conduct

  • consult and inform residents and businesses who may be disrupted and inconvenienced by your activities

Locations

Popular filming locations managed by Dorset Councils Partnership include:

  • Weymouth Beach and Esplanade
  • Weymouth Harbour
  • Lodmoor Country Park (various locations)
  • Chesil Beach Esplanade
  • West Bay Harbour
  • Lyme Regis Harbour and Cobb

All enquiries that relate to road closures should also refer to Dorset Highways - Events on the highway.

Timing and notice required

We will aim to process your application as quickly as possible however we would appreciate it if you are able to give us 10 working days’ notice.

If your filming request is time sensitive and filming is due to take place in the next three days, please email the communications team at communication@dorset.gov.uk
