Apply for a street trading licence in West Dorset

Where you can trade

There are 2 picnic sites in Dorset, one on the A352 and one on the A30 where Dorset County Council licence trading in the picnic areas. All other trading on the highway is prohibited.

Markets and car boot sales

You will need to notify West Dorset District Council if you organise car boot sales, charity car boot sales, farmers markets or antique markets.

If the event involves the buying and selling of goods and takes place within 6 and two-thirds of a mile of Dorchester, you may also need a licence.
