Renewing a licence after 1 January 2019

If you were granted a licence before 1 October 2017 you will need to complete a Vocational Diploma (NVQ) in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving, unless you can provide proof of completion of an appropriate BTEC or NVQ before 1 October 2017.

If you want to appeal against the new condition relating to BTEC and NVQs, you can do so to the magistrates within 21 days from 1 October 2017.

Changes to Wick Lane taxi rank

From 1 September 2017, hackney carriage drivers must:

  • only access Wick Lane Taxi Rank between 6pm and 8am daily via the feeder rank in Mayor's Mead Car Park
  • locate their vehicles in the coach bays facing the new electronic signalling device, which will show when a space on the rank is available
  • leave the feeder rank in turn to get on the Wick Lane rank
  • no longer queue in Wick Lane

Failure to comply may result in legal action, including suspension or revocation of licences.
