Broadband: Guidance for property developers

If you are a developer building in Dorset, you will need to consider broadband provision.

Providing fast and reliable broadband to new build properties can increase their value and be an important selling point.

In order to make sure your development gets a fibre broadband service, you will need to contact a supplier as early as possible.

Guidance from Openreach

You will need to register your development with Openreach. If you are building 30 homes or more, Openreach has committed to providing Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) for free.

See Openreach's guidance

Guidance from Virgin Media

Virgin Media have their own fibre broadband network. If you would like their services at your development:

See Virgin Media's guidance

Guidance from the Government

The Government has worked with Openreach and the Home Builders Federation (HBF) on an agreement which aims to deliver superfast broadband connectivity to new build properties in the UK.
