Finding childcare to meet your needs

Search for childcare

Search our Family Information Directory to find childcare. You can filter your search by those offering free early education funding.

Things to consider when looking for childcare

If you are thinking about childcare:

  • start researching as soon as you can as most providers have waiting lists
  • ask other parents for recommendations
  • visit at least 2 or 3 providers to compare what's on offer

Visit the Family and Childcare Trust website for 5 steps for choosing childcare.

You may want to consider:

  • opening hours
  • costs such as per hour, session, day week and month
  • childcare over holidays
  • what's included in the providers fee, for example food, nappies, wipes
  • if there's a deposit or free to register
  • how many children each member of staff cares for
  • how the provider can cater for any additional or special educational needs
  • staff experience, training and qualifications
