How the Family Information Service can help you and your child.
We provide information to:
- parents and carers
- prospective parents
- young people
- professionals who work with families
Support can start from pre-birth until your child's 20th birthday. If your child is disabled, support can last until their 25th birthday.
Family Information Directory
Our directory can help you find services in Dorset. This includes:
- childcare, schools and colleges
- children's centres
- family support such as health, counselling, drugs and bullying
- activities like holiday clubs, scouts, sport, drama, parent and toddler groups
- national support groups

The Family Information Service's e-newsletter provides details about services for families with children age 0 to 19 (or up to 25 if they are disabled). This includes what's on near you, help with finding childcare, extra support, funding and lots more. We'll email you a monthly newsletter to keep you up to date.

Can't find the information you need?
If you are having difficulty finding childcare or accessing a particular service, then you can request additional support through our Family Information Service Outreach Team. Our advisors will go the extra mile to help you try and find the childcare and other information that meets your family’s needs.
Our service is available from Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 5.30pm.
