Licensing Committee - Purbeck

The role of the Licensing Committee

The Licensing Committee has responsibility for:

  1. administering licences under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005;
  2. administering licences permissions or consents for pleasure boats and related matters, hackney carriages and private hire vehicles, sex establishments; house-to-house collections, food hawkers, skin piercing activities, caravan sites, park homes, camping sites, slaughterhouses and knackers' yards, animal boarding establishments, riding establishments, zoos and dangerous wild animals, slaughtermen, pet shops, dog breeders, scrap metal dealers, and rag flock upholsterers and premises;
  3. the administration of street trading including the designation of controlled streets and approving procedures, terms, conditions and fees in respect of street trading applications in any licence and consent streets; and
  4. the making of recommendations to the Council as a "Licensing Authority" on a Statement of Licensing Policy or Gambling Policy and any subsequent review.

Licensing Committee meetings will be held at 9.15 am in the council chamber at Westport House (unless stated otherwise on the agenda for the meeting) on the following dates:
