Well Being Walks with Dorset Nordic Walking

A gentle way to walk yourself fitter! These walks include exercises that help flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. Suitable for those who want to build up to the more vigorous Nordic walks or may have concerns about their health. Call Lucie on 07768 873156 to book.

Adventure Walks with Dorset Nordic Walking

Easter Egg Springtime Trail

This family favourite will see you exploring the heath in pursuit of springtime clues and your prize at the end.

Monday 8 April Easter Bunnys Upcycled  Join artist Caroline Parrott in reusing and recycling old plastics to create a fantastic Easter bunny to take home.  All children should bring an adult. Anytime between 11am and 2pm £1.50

Tree Climbing Experience

An exciting opportunity to climb trees using ropes and karabinors and get closer to nature at Avon Heath with The Great Big Tree Climbing Company. The largest provider of recreational tree climbing in the country, offers a safe and fun way to enjoy the park’s trees from a new perspective. A thrilling and fun family activity for those aged 6 – adult.  Book through their website

Friday 12 April Ladybird Box Building

A single ladybird can eat over 4000 greenfly…….. a gardener’s best friend!  Make a hibernation box to take home and learn about other insects using your garden.  All children should bring an adult.  Booking advisable.

Sock Bunnies

Join John from Forest Arts and turn a sock into an adorable bunny – a perfect Easter pressie/keepsake. Suitable for 4 yrs plus. All children should bring an adult.  Booking advisable.

Pond Dip

An opportunity to explore the strange and shadowy pond world. Take a closer look with the rangers at some of the weird and wonderful creatures that dominate the water. All children should bring an adult.  Booking essential.

Pop up Pottery

Sculpt, create and decorate!  Make your own Easter decorations from air dry clay. Bring a small box/tub to take your masterpiece home in. Suitable for 4yr olds plus. Booking essential.

Meet a Bird of Prey

Come and meet our falconers’ majestic collection of birds.  Learn about their captivating lives. All children should bring an adult.

Sheep Shearing + Baby lambs

Join our grazier,  meet the baby lambs (if available) and watch the sheep being sheared.  Find out more about grazing animals and their behaviour. Dependant on dry weather.

Sunday 21 April

Peg Puppets 

Join artist Caroline Parrott and use wooden pegs to create your own unique animal puppets…. could it be a snake, a lizard, even a chick inside an egg!  All children should bring an adult.

Monday 22 April

Archery

Join Wildway Bushcraft for this exciting opportunity to have a go at the ancient sport of archery.  Suitable for young to old. All children must bring an adult. Booking advisable.

Tuesday 21 May

Sensory Memory Walk for Dementia Action Week

Join the rangers for a gentle walk exploring Avon Heath’s springtime treasures through the senses.  Smell the coconut fragrance of the gorse flowers, hear the spring birdsong and more.  All welcome including those with dementia and their carers.  Including free hot drink. Booking essential.

11am-12.30pm  £3.50

Treasure Trail

Your treasure awaits you, but first you must embark on an adventure across the heath and through the woods in search of clues to unravel the wildlife riddles for your prize at the end.

Driftwood Hangers

Create your own hanging sculpture with artist Caroline Parrott, using driftwood plus branches collected from the park, and decorated with found and upcycled objects.  All children should bring an adult.

Anytime between 11am- 2pm £2.50
