Stanpit Marsh Dog Control Order

Following an extensive consultation, Christchurch Borough Council decided that all dogs must be kept on a lead when on Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve.

Please note that dogs are still welcome on the reserve, but they must be kept on a lead no longer than 3 metres at all times.

The Recreation Ground is unaffected by the new control order - dogs may still run freely off a lead on this adjoining site. If you have any queries about the dog control order the Frequently Asked Questions information sheet compiled at the time of the consultation may help.

The current by-laws for the nature reserve were written in the 1970s. Since then the Marsh has become much busier and wildlife has come under pressure from a number of factors. This order strengthens these by-laws and requires dogs to be kept on a lead within the nature reserve at all times.
