Friends of Nothe gardens
Setting up of the friends was instigated by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council following an outline initiative by the government to involve and allow ordinary citizens more say in the management and development of their environment. The current chair of the group is Roger Genge.
What's happened on the Nothe over the last 12 months:
- The Friends have funded wildflower plugs and bluebell bulbs for the natural hedgerow border running alongside the sea cadet housing development
- The Friends organised two planting days, inviting local residents to help plant out the wildflower plugs and the bluebells
One of the aims of the Friends is to encourage responsible use of the gardens. It falls to us to find ways to try and change the attitudes of a minority of people who spoil life for the majority.
A great deal of work has gone on behind the scenes to record anti-social behaviour (ASB) and crime that occurs on the Nothe. It's important to report all incidents of ASB/crime. This assists the police in focusing their efforts on the incident hot spots. You should report incidents to the Police on 101.
