Volunteers at the Dorset History Centre

Volunteering at the Dorset History Centre is a rewarding way to learn about our work and meet new people.

Dorset History Centre (DHC) recruits volunteers to work on projects that assist in preserving the collections and making them accessible to a wide audience. Typical work includes packaging, indexing, transcribing, research, digitisation and stocktaking. We also have a small team of volunteers who research materials for community projects.

Past projects include:

  • packaging and indexing the jury lists
  • transcribing the Sherborne Manor court books
  • scanning and indexing slides and photographs
  • collecting oral histories
  • distributing promotional materials

Volunteers are recruited to specific projects. Volunteer positions will be advertised below as they become available.
