Epilepsy training with rescue medication

This session aims to provide delegates with an understanding of epilepsy and skills in administering epilepsy medication.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to recognise:

  • what is epilepsy?
  • causes
  • how a diagnosis is made
  • types of seizures (with reference to current classification of the ILAE)
  • treatment with anti-epileptic medication and side effects
  • first aid
  • status epilepticus
  • psychosocial issues for people with epilepsy, including cultural issues
