Food safety, fluids and nutrition Level 1 courses

For delegates to gain an understanding of the importance of Food Safety and Hygiene.

Delegates will also learn the importance and cover the knowledge aspects of fluids and nutrition in relation to standard 8 of the Care Certificate.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

Understand the principles of hydration, nutrition and food safety;

  • describe the importance of food safety, including hygiene, in the preparation and handling of food
  • explain the importance of good nutrition and hydration in maintaining health and wellbeing
  • list signs and symptoms of poor nutrition and hydration
  • explain how to promote adequate nutrition and hydration

Support individuals to have access to fluids in accordance with their plan of care;

  • know how to report any concerns to the relevant person. This could include: senior member of staff, carer or a family member.

Support individuals to have access to food and nutrition in accordance with their plan of care;

  • know how to report any concerns to the relevant person. This could include: senior member of staff, carer or a family member.

Target group

All new Tricuro Ltd staff including: Care, Housekeeping and Catering Staff. Not open to independent and private sector.
