Empty property loans in West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland
Our aim is to work with owners of empty homes to help consider the options to bring them back into use. That may include:
- moving into it yourself
- letting your property through our lettings team
- letting the property yourself
- leasing the property via our lettings team
- selling the property either through an estate agent, on the open market or at auction
If your property needs renovation, in certain circumstances you could be eligible for a low cost loan. When supported by the council, loans for up to £15,000 may be offered through Wessex Resolutions Community Interest Company, approved provider for both West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
For more information about the loan scheme, including eligibility or loan options, please see the short video below or contact Wessex Resolutions.
If you want to let your property, we can advise about becoming a landlord or using our services, from finding tenants, to signing up and completing all the necessary checks our team can provide expert assistance.
I am interested in an empty property, how can I find out more?
You may be able to find out who the current owner is through the Land Registry. If you can't, contact the *Empty Homes Officer*, who can attempt to contact the owner on your behalf. Data protection restrictions mean we cannot give out owner's details.
