Leeson House Field Studies Centre

Leeson House is a secluded and comfortable residential centre set within 7 acres of inspiring and diverse grounds in Swanage.

It is an ideal venue for school field trips as it's close to many classic geography, geology and biology fieldwork sites. Leeson House can accommodate up to 73 students of any ages and 14 staff.

We offer a wide range of:

  • day visits
  • outreach activities
  • residential bookings

Leeson House can also be hired by organised groups. This is on a self-catered basis during winter weekends and school holidays. It is suitable for groups such as:

  • large family gatherings
  • adults
  • youth groups
  • church groups

The venue is comfortable and ideal for those looking for a secluded stay in the Isle of Purbeck.

    All our field studies courses are individually planned to meet your own particular requirements. Our courses make full use of the grounds of Leeson House together with the stunning local environment which includes features such as Lulworth Cove, Old Harry Rocks and Corfe Castle.

    Leeson House has an excellent reputation for the quality of accommodation and catering. This is complemented by a modern classroom block with comprehensive field studies equipment and ICT provision. The extensive secluded grounds provide many opportunities for on-site activities such as orienteering, pond-dipping and team building.

    Leeson House has six tutors. Between them they have many years of experience teaching field studies to students of all ages.
