Computers and internet access at Dorset Libraries

All Dorset Libraries offer free access to the internet, Microsoft Office 2010 applications and scanners using the public 'Go Online' computers. Printing is also available.

Book a computer

Use your library card and PIN to book a library computer. Computers are available for free for one hour sessions. A further hour may be available subject to demand. You can book computer sessions up to a week in advance if you have a library membership card.

You can also book at computer by phoning or visiting the library.

Please remember:

  • you'll need your library card to log onto a computer when you arrive for your session
  • if you're under 16, you need permission from a parent or guardian to use the computers; ask library staff for a parental permission form
  • customers are required to agree to and follow the computer use policy each time they use a public computer

Wi-Fi

Free Wi-Fi is available at all Dorset Libraries so you can access the internet on your own mobile device.

You don't have to be a library member, but you will need to accept the terms and conditions of use to access it.

Please note that Wi-Fi printing is currently not available.

Borrow a micro:bit

Micro:bits are tiny programmable computers designed to make learning to code easy and fun!  You can use a micro:bit to make anything from a robot to a musical instrument - the possibilities are endless!  You can request a micro:bit at any Dorset Library and you can borrow it for free for up to 3 weeks.

Each micro:bit kit comes with:

  • 1 micro:bit
  • 1 mini USB lead
  • 1 quick start guide

In Dorset Libraries, customers are required to agree to the following terms and conditions, before they use a Go Online computer.
