Hypnotism Authorisation

If you would like to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must have an authorisation from the Licensing Authority.

Under the Hypnotism Act 1952 (opens in a new window) if you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must have an authorisation from the Licensing Authority if the show, performance or demonstration is to be in a premises within the area of the Local Authority.

Guidance as to how to apply this legislation is contained in the Home Office Circular 39/1996 (pdf, 135kb) (opens in a new window). The guidance states that there are certain conditions that should be attached to any consent.
