Making it Real

Making it Real (MIR) is for local people to have more choice and control so they can live full and independent lives.

Our Making it Real programme aims to change the way we plan, design, deliver and evaluate adult social care and support services. We hope to achieve this by working together with community members. Community members may be service users, carers, self-funders, relatives, friends or anyone with an interest in adult social care. We will work together to assess our services against these 'I' statements (pdf, 302kb) (opens in a new window).

Get involved

There are lots of different ways you could get involved; from attending forums and workshops, to completing surveys or even by becoming one of our mystery shoppers. There is no specific amount of time you need to give - you can choose how and when you participate.

We are not able to offer you payment for any time you give, but will reimburse travel and parking costs. We may also be able to offer you some support in order to participate, such as help getting online or coaching to improve confidence when attending meetings or forums.

To be part of the Making it Real programme, please register. This will give us a bit more information about you and how you would like to get involved.

Adult Social Care Annual Report - 'The Local Account' 2016 to 2017

The local account is a means by which residents hold their local authority adult social care department to account. It is an annual publication that sets out how we have done, where we need to improve, including details of what we have spent, what we plan to spend and what our future plans and priorities are.
