The Dorset Max Card
Information about the Max Card and how and where you can use it.
What is it?
The Max Card entitles the holder plus one other person to free or discounted access or benefits at a range of leisure activities, venues and organisations across Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole and beyond. The Max Card can be used by a child alone or with a friend/carer to obtain free or reduced rate entry or various forms of discount.
Please do not lend, or let your child lend the card to anyone else - it is only for the child that the card is registered to.
Who can use one?
The card is available to:
|Criteria||How long is the card valid for?|
|Group A||All Dorset (excluding Bournemouth and Poole) based young carers, children in care, some care leavers||Max Card lasts for the current year and expires on 31 December|
|Group B||All children and young people who are disabled and registered on The Xchange (opens in a new window) and living in Dorset (excluding Bournemouth and Poole)||The card is age banded and can last for up to 4 years|
How to join
If you are the parent or carer of a child or young person who is disabled and are not yet registered with The Xchange then you can join online on the Xchange website (opens in a new window). Alternatively, you can email the Xchange Co-ordinator for an application form.
Where can the card be used?
The Max Card can be used to receive free/reduced rate entry or discounts at lots of places in Dorset. These include museums, leisure centres, activity venues, shops and cafe's. The list of
venues (pdf, 779kb) (opens in a new window) taking part in the scheme is growing all the time.
For details of the venues such as opening times, prices and to check the current discounts on offer, please contact the venue. You can search the Family Information Directory for information on the venue and to find out about their Local Offer.
How you can help
If there is a venue where you would like to use your Max Card but it is not on the list, let us know and we will do our best to persuade them to join. Alternatively, you can tell the manager of the venue that you would like the venue to sign up and get them to contact the Xchange Co-ordinator.
If you come across a venue who is a member of the scheme but does not recognise the card, then please let us know so that we can raise the issue with them.
