Public participation

The council welcomes attendance by the public at its meetings.  Public participation time, which takes place at the beginning of each meeting, is an opportunity for you to raise issues of concern or interest.

Find out more about public participation time at the council's meetings.

There are separate arrangements for public participation at Planning Committee meetings.

You can also find out further information about submitting petitions to the council, which includes the opportunity to bring about a debate in council meetings and attend a council meeting to speak as part of a deputation.

Recording, photographing and using social media at meetings of the Council

The council is committed to being open and transparent in the way it carries out its business whenever possible.  Anyone can film, audio-record, take photographs, and use social media such as tweeting and blogging to report the meeting when it is open to the public.  Find out more and read the Council's protocol on recording, photographing and using social media at meetings of the council.
