Adding or changing the name of an existing house or property

Adding a name to an address

If a property has a number, you can add a name to it without applying to us.

However, if you wish the name to form part of the official address you will need to use our service to rename the property.

You need to be careful that there is not a property with a similar name nearby.

If you add a name it is not part of the official address. This means you must still display the number and always use it in the address. For example:

Rose Cottage
5 Made Up Street
Example Town

Changing the name of a property

If there is no number, the name forms part of the official address.

If you wish to change this you will need to apply to us.
