Dorchester West Railway Station, Access Ramp

Provision of an access ramp from Williams Avenue opposite the County Hospital. Includes limited disabled parking / drop off point, to gain access to the northbound platform.

Latest news

We have been working with Network Rail to deliver this scheme. Both parties are now completing the necessary legal agreements to enable Network Rail to build the ramp.

It is hoped that the work will be completed over the autumn of 2017.

Scheme objectives

Create an access ramp to enable all users, particularly wheelchair users, full access to the northbound platform. Currently there is only a stepped access.

Cost and funding

This is a partnership scheme funded through the Local Transport Plan, together with contributions from:

  • the Local Area Partnership
  • Dorchester Town Council
  • West Dorset District Council

Current estimated costs: £220,000
